Read about the often shocking events that occurred since Nabil Sayadi and Patricia Vinck are around.
To place it all in an historical timeframe some events that took place somewhat earlier as the time the Sayadi's were being placed on the UN Al-Qaida are included as well.
For reasons of psychological protection and to avoid this website is taken of the web by court order some events have been omitted and those that could not be left out are written in a way avoiding as much as possible lively descriptions of the most horrific events. No images are included.
Has the world been improved since both parents of the Sayadi family were born and/or since they have met? Can they be compared with Bonny & Clyde? Read all about it! (At own risk).
Nabil Sayadi and Patricia Vinck
- Things that have happened and shocked many -
The Sayadi-Vinck couple - married in Pakistan - never has had any sympathy for the oppression of women, the bombardment of buildings, torture, violation of human rights and dignity, destruction of cultural heritage, abuse of power, hypocrisy of governments and individuals, illegal imprisonments, the burning of books or music tapes or instruments. They, as many amongst us, put questions - now more as ever before - regarding the monopolization of the press, the plunder of resources, theft of community goods, neglect of social and individual rights.
They have not contributed to any conspiracy to gain world domination. Neither have they incited neighbors to envy each other. They were nor are involved in power games, espionage and secret politics. (Except for what is happening to them right now). They facilitated the reconstruction of war torn and disaster struck areas and oppose vehemently the killing of priests, nuns or any such acts. In stead they educated, empowered women, children, craftsmen and artists while keeping far from terrorists or anyone bringing in arms in the country or spreading hate and uproar.
They have never possessed any weapons nor tried to facilitate the trade of arms; small nor large. Never they danced in the streets advocating the refusal of access to education because of that person's conviction, culture, sexual preference, style of dressing or whatsoever.
They didn't burn any flag nor provided wires or more refined equipment or methods to electrocute or harm people who had 'disappeared' or who were about to vanish.
They even didn't know it was the French secret service who blew up the "Rainbow Warrior", Greenpeace's ship, in the harbor of Auckland, New Zealand.
They were too small to stand on their feet and have never been at the place of the assassination when Kennedy was shot.
When the population of Dear Yasin was murdered, they hadn't heard of "Sharon" yet, as they weren't born then and when My Lai was paid a burning visit leaving nearly its entire population murdered on the spot, they couldn't read or write yet. What would they have been able to use an M-16 machine gun a hasty trained foreign 18 year old soldiers hardly handle?
The Sayadi's provided - with the help of many other humanitarian caretakers - food, school equipment, medical supplies, seeds and whatever needed to overcome the suffering caused by politics, natural disasters and warriors.
All this to put people who had lost everything except for their faith and self respect, back on track. They kept far from anything else but providing humanitarian aid.
MR SAYADI: NABIL SAYADI
Nabil Sayadi went to a Christian school in Lebanon. This because that was where he lived. He was born in Lebanon. He knows what intolerance can do to a country as he saw around him falling the ancient social fabric apart as war broke out. The difficult process of reconstruction of all what got so hasty destroyed - buildings, relations and institutions - must have made an impression on him. The psychological impact on populations of wars can not be underestimated.
He must not have been a bad student as he later got the opportunity to go study in Europe. His family provided for him. He visited many countries, became familiar with different cultures and speaks quite some languages, including Arabic. In what's called the cradle of Western democracy, Greece, he obtained a degree as dental technician. Never he laid a hand on chemicals and tools any other as needed for the production of dentures. He truly is a peaceful man; not a man of war. He likes to create; not to destroy.
GERMS, FOREIGN COUNTRIES, NUCLEAR WASTE, MONEY, RADIOACTIVITY
The Sayadi-Vinck couple didn't spread diseases amongst people of color to study how the germs would spread. They are certainly not racist.
Their waste they use as much for their chicken and what's left is paid for to get it disposed as ecologically as possible. Very well on their No-list might be their opposition against plans to increase the use of nuclear power as this is one way to stop every government, group or crazy terrorist to produce a dirty bomb.
They certainly were in contact with radioactive material long before their work brought them to Pakistan, Afghanistan and too many other troubled places. This as Strontium and Plutonium haven't fallen down only on that small village next to the site where those who brought the A-bomb into this world had it tested. Many villagers got so much contaminated with radioactivity they developed cancers and died in misery. The Sayadi-Vinck family has nothing to do with this deliberate contamination of the environment and neither - until recently - with the government behind such acts of terror.
They didn't poisoned water and neither ever infested blankets with germs to rid people to obtain their land and wealth. Nor did they dropped cluster bombs, hidden in teddy bears and disguised as food parcels.
MS SAYADI: PATRICIA VINCK
If talking about 'Daisies', Patricia Vinck smiles and thinks about her lovely garden, helping - with the grace of Allah - her family to survive. She doesn't think immediately about those highly developed and worth the status of being part of the arsenal of "weapons of mass destruction": "Daisy Cutters". Those sophisticated killing devices are cluster bombs, blasting thousands of shrapnel through tin walls of peasant homes, killing all without distinction; depopulating in a single explosion villages that might have provided so much more as shelter only during hundreds of years. Up in the sky victory is cried and in a far away country a dot changes color. An other blow for freedom?
As all normal people do nowadays and in the past as well: the Sayadi-Vinck family advocates tolerance and dialogue and opposes any of such acts of terror and madness utmost. - Still, they are the ones that are being mangled, in silence, in one of the richer regions of the world, not as refugees or illegal immigrants. Although there are people with fake IDs, Nabil Sayadi and Patricia Vinck are not involved in sham nor have they ever used forged documents.
Both are citizens of Belgium. As such they are entitled to be protected by the legal system of their country and by their government. The Belgian government, however, seems to be pleased to have them around. This however only as a low budget proof of their dedication and participation in the "The War on Terror".
THE RIGHT FRIENDS - A GUARANTEE FOR A QUITE LIFE -
General-for-life, Pinochet sips expensive wine after a joyful flight he's back home.
Red wine must be his favorite.
Mr. Pinochet can't recall a thing of what that uncontroled press is blaming him about.
Not "Envoi of Dead", not the exchange of specialists - all trained in the "School of the Americas" in most cruel techniques of torture and in ways to terrorize the families of the victims also. He has not the slightest idea what they talk about when reports state his troops were "exporting prisoners" across the borders to have them tortured in neigboring countries because Chile's own capacity couldn't deal with the influx. Those silly journalists admit next it's all in their minds when they later write about 'vanished' intellectuals, artists, workers, ....
He can't recall ever to have heard about people having been thrown out of airplanes above the jungle or the ocean. The kidnapping of children of political opponents, to be raised in the families of his officers: a leftist fantasy. Stalin did that!
That Pablo Neruda can't play guitar anymore? So, what has he, Pinochet, to do with that? That Neruda died anyway soon later. It's a lie is was because his fingers where cut of during the Regularization! No, likely it was because that Neruda guy couldn't stand it people finally told him those silly songs and poems - "Canto General" - were nothing more as communist crap!
Gosh, good his socialist friend Tony Blair let him get back to his hacienda. What an idea to have him, Pinochet, arrested in the UK to be extradited to Spain after all he did for his people and his friends! Who would have taken better care of the rightful claims of companies as "ITT" and the "Anaconda Mining Company"?
Here, sitting at ease in the mild sun of Chili, with a view on the Andes, he who made Chile most known enjoys his age. Two nice documents hang next to his picture in the main hall. In front of the faithful ticking pendulum.
The first framed relict is the special law his friends in Parliament made for him, granting him lifetime immunity against all communist attempt to use him, Pinochet, as a tool for their propaganda. The other one is more a tiny slip, telling elderly persons like he, by occasion, can't recall anything stressful that might even never have happened.
"Silly politics", Mr Pinochet thinks and he sips again from his fine red Andes wine.

GET A LIFE - GET A JOB
The Sayadi-Vinck family don't envy Mr Pinochet. At their home no alcohol is available and neither any other (illegal) drug or substances. Actually, the family hasn't much left at all in their cellar or in their attic now their source of income has been taken away from them.
Nabil Sayadi has lost his job. First as a truck driver and co-coordinator for the non-profit organization he helped to create. When they were forbidden to leave Belgium and their assets were frozen he had to sell the truck.
Next he lost a job as a salesman in a clothes shop of standing. His boss, during a family holiday, had been questioned about who he employed. On arrival in Australia the only issue the customs seems to have been interested in was why he employed back home in Belgium, at the other side of the world, Nabil Sayadi. On the return flight, at a stop in Austria, the same scenario took place: the customs picked out Nabil Sayadi's employer - who is on no list or whatsoever - and asked him exactly the same question.
On his return to Belgium the man was so terrorized by this experience he fired Nabil, a long time friend, right away.
Belgium is a wonderful country, widely know for its famous welfare system. Nabil Sayadi already knows all about it. When the activities of the humanitarian organization Nabil used to work in had to be halted he requested what he had paid taxes for: some allowance for the time he was unemployed. Although he found temporary work in the clothes shop, the State body informed him he would be refused. They state he had not been an employee but should have been classified as a self-employed business man. Why the State had been cashing then - as this is how the system works - during all the past years over a 30 percent of Nabil's monthly wage and this even before it reached his family? No thank you. No reply. No nothing.
THE SLIPPERY LEGAL PATH
The Sayadi's filled a lawsuit against the Belgian State. Their second lawsuit. The first one for being dealt with without accusation or even date of a trial and now one against the state body refusing to provide what they had been collecting money for as long as things went well.
To the surprise of even the judge, that trial got postponed.
The state body having been sued by the Sayadi's for not handling their case in a reasonable time and for not providing any argument why this was so, appeared in front of court with the statement they had counter-sued Nabil Sayadi. They accuse him of requesting aid in spite of not being applicable. Once more: no arguments are given why Nabil wouldn't be in a position to apply for an unemployment allowance. The lawyer of the State body involved knew the laws of this country even better as the judge: because the State sues now Nabil Sayadi in the same case as he is suing this State institution, the case Nabil brought forward is automagically halted. The State's case against Nabil Sayadi has priority. Even the judge was amazed by this magic of legislation.
The better one knows the case, the bigger the amazement. It is clearly obvious that no one can be convicted for requesting a right he or she thinks to be entitled to. The move of the Belgian State is absurd but very effective to paralyze anyone opposing it.
If this case takes more as a couple of years before a verdict is brought forward, the Sayadi's might - but with what resources left ? - start a suit against Belgium in front of an international court. Next it will take, once more, many more years before that court will take a decision and most likely Belgium will ignore the ruling as it did in other cases as well.
It appears that even in those states where throughout ages of barbary legislation developed to form the base for what is known as the "Constitutional State", the modern state can't deal properly with its population any longer. The resemblance with the sovereign tyrant, an individual, and the legitimized modern state is a domain we don't want to explore here. However one can whether the democratic process that pushed forward the issue of the fair sharing of power; the task of taking responsibility as an individual for oneself and for the community one belongs to; has come to an end and even might be on its return. More we like to believe democratization needs a good boost in order to rid much hypocrisy!
For now no court appears to be able to enforce its ruling on states as we know them nowadays. Belgium has been convicted many times already before. Amongst other issues also for not respecting a reasonable term in which Belgian courts have to come to a verdict and this especially in issues related to the State of Belgium itself. So far so good for that constitutional state!
THE LETTER THAT SETS JUSTICE ON FIRE
In May 2004 the Sayadi's received one more magical twist of justice: their fire insurance told them that because they were placed on a Belgian list of terrorists the law forbid them to continue their coverage. The letter ended with "We thank you for putting trust in our company and keep ourselves at all times available to serve you". (!!)
Completely Kafka: there isn't any law protecting the rights of the Sayadi's; there exist at all any list of terrorists put forward by the Belgian government and neither does there exist any law forbidding insurances to provide coverage to terrorists, placed on whatever list!
HOPE FOR ALL OF US
All members of the Sayadi-Vinck family strongly belief one day
justice will prevail no matter what.
